Wet Gas Scrubbers

Type V

  • MOST EFFICIENT OF ALL SCRUBBERS
  • NO WET-DRY LINE BUILD-UP

  • CAN HANDLE POWER AND VOLUME FLUCTUATIONS

Type V Scrubbers are used extensively where sub-micron dust particles or extremely high collection efficiencies are involved. The vertical gas inlet design allows for water distribution without the use of spray nozzles. Without spray nozzles, up to 10% by weight solids concentration can be suspended in the recirculation slurry without plugging or abrasion problems. In turn, heavier recirculating slurries mean smaller slip streams for disposal – and less slurry to be processed. For instance, a recirculating system discards less slurry for reprocessing or disposal when handling ten percent of solids than one handling two percent solids.

HOW IT WORKS

The Variable Throat Venturi Scrubber allows you to fine tune the unit for changing codes or to handle volume or process fluctuations. Incoming gases are directed to the flooded venturi by an inlet thimble that is not subject to any moisture, so there is no wet-dry line to cause build-up or plugging. The inlet thimble directs gas into the fully wetted cone and throat area. The large volume of recycled water eliminates thermal shock and minimises abrasion in the venturi throat.

At velocities from 60 to 150 meters per second in the flooded venturi, throat gases create fine, dense turbulent mists of the scrubbing liquid.

Sub-micron particles entrapped as the gas/mist stream is ducted through one turn before injection into the separator chamber. In the separator chamber, the droplets with their dust/fume loads are centrifugally collected against the sides of the chamber and drained to the sump.

Cleaned gases then circle up through the outlet to the stack or fan.

Sludge can be drawn off to a settling tank, centrifuge or other re-processor, or recycled from an integral recycle tank.

EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATION

The high energy type venturi, incorporates a liquid distribution tray with the ability to operate without the use of spray nozzles. The inlet thimble has been designed in such a way as to eliminate a wet/dry interface. The venturi throat shall be completely wetted, adjustable, exhausting to a flooded elbow to deter abrasion. The separator is to have 45 sloping conical bottom with anti-swirl baffles. The discharge cone shall be at a 30 angle from vertical with a drip ring to minimize liquid carry over.
