Wet Gas Scrubbers

Type K "PACKED TOWER"

  • FOR CHEMICAL PROCESSING
  • GAS AND ODOUR  ABSORPTION

  • LOW COST

The Type K Scrubber is designed to remove corrosive fumes and noxious gases from industrial and chemical processes and air ventilation systems. It protects both plant facilities and the health of personnel.

For efficient absorption of these fumes and gases by a scrubbing liquid, a large surface contact area is needed. Packing offers this broad surface.

The air or gas enters the bottom of the tower and receives a preliminary washing as the scrubbing liquid drains from the packed, irrigated bed. The air or gas stream is forced to move up through the packing, counter to the downward flow of the scrubbing liquid.

Finally, the air stream passes through a mist eliminator section before it is permitted to enter the stack.

EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATIONS

Scrubber of cylindrical shape shall be of the high efficiency packed column type with radial inlet from which the gas to be cleaned is passed through a minimum of 2.4 metres of packing for an equivalent of one second retention time in the packing. The liquid is introduced through an overflow weir and is counter-current to the gas flow. The gas then passes through a mesh type eliminator before it exits through a top or horizontal discharge. Unit is to be equipped with an integral recycle tank.
